The Journal of International Criminal Justice aims to promote a profound collective reflection on the new problems facing international law.
Established by a group of distinguished criminal lawyers and international lawyers, the journal addresses the major problems
of justice from the angle of law, jurisprudence, criminology, penal philosophy, and the history of international judicial
institutions.

Antonio Cassese
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Antonio Cassese. His contribution to OUP’s international law publishing
and to our international criminal justice publishing in particular was immeasurable. From the founding of two leading journals
– the European Journal of International Law and the Journal of International Criminal Justice – to his editorship of a commentary on the Rome Statute and the Oxford Companion to International Criminal Justice, and his
authoring of textbooks on general international law and international criminal law, his work has profoundly affected students,
scholars, practitioners and policy makers. We join many others in the international law community in offering our condolences
to his family and honouring his memory.
